George William Henry Faulkes, known professionally as William Faulkes, was born on November 4, 1863, in Liverpool, United Kingdom. He was an organist and composer known for his contributions to classical music. His early education was guided by his mother and sister, with additional support from local organist William Dawson. At age 10, he joined the choir of St Margaret's Church, Anfield. Faulkes' first appointment as a church organist was at St John the Baptist Tuebrook from 1881 to 1886. He then returned to St Margaret's Anfield, remaining there until his death on January 25, 1933. Faulkes composed over 500 organ works and also created choral music, songs, and chamber and orchestral pieces. His reputation led him to record player rolls for the Welte Company in Germany before and after World War I.
