Gerard Bouwhuis (born 1954, Castricum) is a Dutch pianist specialized in contemporary classical music. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he studied under the guidance of Geoffrey Douglas Madge. Bouwhuis established a reputation through his membership in the Xenakis Ensemble. Throughout his career, he maintained collaborations with prominent Dutch composers such as Louis Andriessen, Cornelis de Bondt, and Martijn Padding, who composed original works specifically for him. In 1989, he released the album Ladder of Escape, showcasing his focus on modern solo piano repertoire. His professional achievements are documented by the Centre for New Zealand Music and Muziek-Podium Zeeland. Recognized for his technical command of complex 20th and 21st-century scores, Bouwhuis contributed to the development of the contemporary music landscape in the Netherlands.
