Kashiwa Daisuke is a Japanese composer, pianist, and electronic musician. He began his musical career in 2001 as a member of the post-rock/experimental group Yodaka. Kashiwa launched his solo career in 2006 with April.#02, followed by Program Music I (2007) and 5 Dec. (2009). In 2011, he released 88, his first piano-focused album, under Virgin Babylon Records. In 2013, he composed the soundtrack for Makoto Shinkai’s short film The Garden of Words, featuring a reworked version of his composition "Swan Song" from 88. He continued to release solo albums, including Re: (2012), 9 Songs (2014), Program Music II (2016), and Re:RED (2017). Kashiwa’s work spanned electronic, ambient, and experimental music, often exploring diverse genres and conceptual frameworks.
