Matthias Bublath, born March 14, 1978, in Munich, is a German jazz pianist, organist, keyboardist, and composer. Bublath studied at the Bruckner Konservatorium Linz (1998–2000) and Berklee College of Music (2000–2002), where he received the Charles Mingus Award. In 2004, Bublath completed a Master’s at the Manhattan School of Music. After seven years as a freelance musician in New York City, Bublath returned to Europe in 2010. Bublath performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, reaching the semifinals of the 1999 Piano Solo Competition. In 2003, Bublath and Eric Wainaina received a Kora Award. His discography includes fifteen albums, such as Diversity (2010), Time and Changes (2016), Eight Cylinder Bigband (2020), and Orange Sea (2022). Bublath collaborated with musicians including Mike Clark and Lionel Loueke, and performed the multi-media show Jazz Goes Universe with his father, Joachim Bublath.
