Denise Janelle Gutiérrez Mendoza, known professionally as Denise Gutiérrez, was born on June 24, 1988, in Los Ángeles, California. She is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter who began her musical journey at a young age. At 17, she started vocal training with opera singer Teresa Magaña while fronting a pop band under the pseudonym "Lo Blondo." In 2008, Gutiérrez's band Hello Seahorse! released their debut album Bestia, earning a Latin Grammy nomination for "Bestia" in the category of Alternative Single. Throughout her career, Gutiérrez has collaborated with notable artists such as Zoé and Natalia Lafourcade. She contributed to the soundtracks of films like Hidalgo and Marcelino, pan y vino. In 2012, she performed at the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City, marking a significant milestone as she officially retired the "Lo Blondo" moniker. Gutiérrez has released several albums with Hello Seahorse!, including Lejos. No tan lejos (2010) and HÍPER (2023).
