Candie Payne, born Candie Payne on 19 December 1981 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, is an English pop singer who initially pursued visual art before turning to music. Her early career included performances with Liverpool groups Tramp Attack and Edgar Jones & the Joneses, after which she met Simon Dine of Noonday Underground and began writing songs. In 2006 she released the singles "By Tomorrow" and "Take Me", which led to her debut album I Wish I Could Have Loved You More on Deltasonic in May 2007. The single "One More Chance", produced by Mark Ronson, followed in September 2007. Payne appeared on the cover of The Times in November 2007 and later toured with Ronson on his 2008 Version tour, performing at Glastonbury, Global Gathering and the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her album entered the UK charts at number 56, and she has collaborated with artists such as Kevin Ayers, David Byrne, and Fatboy Slim.
