Robert Armas y Los Conquistadores de la Salsa is a Cuban-Peruvian salsa and timba orchestra that originated in Havana in August 1996 and settled permanently in Lima, Peru, in January 1997, when Peruvian manager Edith Margot Chirinos Uribe began working with a core of Cuban musicians led by pianist, composer and arranger Roberto Carlos Armas Hechavarría. The group released its debut album Esto Se Pega in 1998, produced and written by Armas and featuring early songs such as "Te Veo Fururú Farará" and "Esto Se Pega", which helped establish their sound in the growing Peruvian salsa circuit. They consolidated their profile in the early 2000s with the albums Vengo Conquistando (2002) and Conquistando Continentes (2005), which extended their reach beyond Peru and positioned the orchestra in specialised salsa markets. In March 2013 they issued the timba-oriented album Cubano Natural, accompanied by European tours that took their repertoire to Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and Hungary, while from 2013 onward they were also used as musical ambassadors for the Marca Perú campaign. The band strengthened its catalogue with the 2018 album La Timba la Traigo Yo, released on 8 October 2018 and including tracks such as "La Timba la Traigo Yo", "Cara de Cemento" and "Así Nadie Te Va a Querer" featuring Armando "Mandy" Cantero and guest vocalist Tania Pantoja, a record that received a Latin Grammy pre-nomination and coincided with industry recognition from ASPEM. On 1 January 2020 they released Bailalo Ahora, a collaborative project that included "Quererte a Ti (Versión salsa)" with Tania Pantoja, "Ya Colgué los Chimpunes" with Mario Hart, "Dije" with Álvaro Rod, "Mi Angel" with David Calzado y Su Charanga Habanera and a series of salsa versions of contemporary Latin pop hits. To mark their 25th anniversary they issued the live album 25 Años Conquistando Edición Especial (En Vivo) in May 2023, followed later that year by the studio album Malita Mala and the acoustic EP Versión Acústica, Vol. 1, and in 2024 they added the live release Live Sessions Vol. 1 and singles such as "Mejor que Tú", "Soy un Conquistador" and "El Baile del Rico Rico", which became a viral hit across streaming platforms. In 2025 they continued to release new material including "MAMI, QUÉ RICO TÚ TE MUEVES", "Te Veo Fururú Farará (Versión Cumbia)", the live album 27 Aniversario (Edición Especial) En Vivo.
