Longineu Parsons II, born in 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida, is an American jazz musician who began learning classical trumpet at age 11. He transitioned from performing with R&B acts to jazz, playing with Sun Ra’s orchestra and going on a European tour with Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre. Parsons released his first album independently while living in Paris and, upon returning to the U.S. in 1982, earned a master's degree in classical composition from the University of Florida. He performed with notable artists such as Nat Adderley, Cab Calloway, Doc Severinsen, Herbie Mann, Archie Shepp, and Branford Marsalis, and contributed to musical productions like Satchmo and Forever Swing. His discography includes albums such as Longineu Parsons (1980) and Spaced: Collected Works 1980-1999 (1999).
