Elena Xanthoudakis, an Australian operatic soprano of Greek heritage, was born in Mount Beauty in 1978. After graduating from McKinnon Secondary College, she initially studied astrophysics before transitioning to music at the Victorian College of the Arts, where she earned a Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2001. She continued her studies simultaneously at the University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts, receiving both Master of Music and Graduate Diploma of Opera degrees in 2004.
Xanthoudakis's career took off with numerous awards, including the Maria Callas International Grand Prix in Athens in 2003. Her notable albums include Jewels of the Bel Canto (2014) with Richard Bonynge and the Royal Northern Sinfonia, and The Captive Nightingale (2016) with Clemens Leske.
