Originally from Essex, England, rapper Nick Brewer studied history and held a number of insecure jobs before turning his attention to music. Starting in 2010, he collaborated with London production team The Confect, releasing four EPs that went relatively unnoticed. Attracted by 2-step and housen, Nick Brewer set out to define his own version of dance rap. He enlisted the collaboration of American Bibi Bourelly - known for her work with Rihanna and Lil Wayne - and in 2015 released the single "Talk to Me", which mischievously samples Crystal Waters' famous "Gypsy Woman". The single broke into the UK top twenty in September 2015 and won over French audiences a month later.
