Sang Woo Kim (born July 3, 1993 in Seoul, Korea) also known as Roy Kim, gained fame by winning the fourth season of the South Korean television talent show Superstar K in 2012. Growing up in Canada and the United States, Kim finished high school in 2012, dropping out of university to compete in the reality show, ultimately winning against two million contestants. After his 2012 victory, he released his debut album Love Love Love in 2013, featuring the hit single “Bom Bom Bom”, which topped the charts and in the following year, followed this with “Home” from the album of the same name. His third album, The Great Dipper, was released in 2015 and was a departure from his previous folk-inspired style, however still ranked in the top 10, coming in at number 8. Towards the end of 2015, Kim had played several sold-out solo concerts in Seoul, releasing his first extended play, Blooming Season, in May 2017, which peaked at number six. In February 2018, the single "Only Then" topped Korean music charts upon its release, earning a Platinum certification for digital sales in November, and accolades Best Male Artist at the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards, as well as a Digital Bonsang at the 2019 Golden Disc Awards. On completion of his military service in September 2022, the singer made a triumphant return with "Take Me Back in Time” released on October 14, followed by his fourth full album, And later in the month. In 2023, he returned with "Let's Stay Well" as well as "Whenever, Wherever," from the TV series My Demon, reaching the 21st and 79th positions on the charts, respectively.
