Lawyer, author, composer, singer and rapper, Raj Maziane was born on December 31, 1988 in Maghnia, Algeria. Orphaned at the age of eight, she learned music with the Scouts. In 2007, she made a name for herself as a finalist in an Algerian talent show, where she performed politically committed classics, including songs by Lounès Matoub. Raja Meziane doesn't blend in with the crowd; on the contrary, she quickly shows her commitment, releasing "Révolution" in 2012. The people were not yet ready to turn against their government, but she became an artist under close government scrutiny. When she refused to sing for the president in 2014, she was denied her law degree, and ended up in exile in 2015 with her husband and producer Dee Tox. Since Prague, she has never taken her eyes off her native land. In her songs, she addresses the Algerian people, who are beginning to rise up. In 2019, in just 24 hours, she created a viral clip featuring images of the Algerian Revolution on YouTube: "Allo, le système". This track earned her a 61st place in the BBC's ranking of the 100 most inspiring women in the world in 2019. Since then, she has released a string of singles in which her commitment never wavers, including "Toxic" or "Rebelle " in 2019, "Survivor"¸ "Free Bird " or "Un million de vie" (2020). Her love for Algeria also remains intact when she sings "Nostalgia" in 2022. The artist, who pursues her career as a lawyer, produces one or two singles a year and systematically reaches the million-view mark
