Samaris are an electronic music group from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed in January 2011. They consist of Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir on clarinet, Þórður Kári Steinþórsson on electronics, and Jófríður Ákadóttir on vocals. They gained early recognition by winning the Músíktilraunir contest in 2011 and releasing their debut EP, Hljóma Þú (2011), which won the Icelandic Kraumur award. In July 2013, they released their self-titled debut album, Samaris (2013), which featured a mix of electronic music and lyrics from 19th-century Icelandic poems. They also released the EP Stofnar falla (2012) and the albums Silkidrangar (2014) and Silkidrangar Sessions (2015). Their subsequent album, Black Lights (2016), marked their transition to English-language lyrics. Notable singles include "Wanted 2 Say" (2016) and collaborations such as Jófríður Ákadóttir's appearance on Low Roar's single "Bones" (2017).
