João Barreto's music is influenced by Brad Mehldau Tigran Hamasyan, Chick Corea, Avishai Cohen, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Michel Camilo, Pablo Lapidusas but also by different Portuguese artists, like Júlio Resende, Mário Laginha and Bernardo Sassetti.
He was born in 2005 in Portugal and grew up hearing many different music styles, from classical to rock music from the 80's. He also hears Jack Johnson, Eddie Vedder, Bob Dylan.
His first contact with piano was at the young age of 3 years old, and by the time he was 9, he started playing jazz standards, with the Argentine musician Pablo Lapidusas. At 13, he started writing his first ideas and at the age of 15 he released his first album with the help and co-production of Pablo Lapidusas. And in 2023, with pieces composed and recorded when he was only 17, he released the first full album called "The Lonely Tree" recorded in Musbéria (Serpa).
