Schroeder’s Cat was an Irish indie rock and shoegaze duo from Dublin, established in 1993. The band was formed by Simon Kenny, performing as Si Schroeder, and Darragh O’Grady, while Dennis McNulty contributed keyboards. Drawing influence from My Bloody Valentine, the group debuted in 1995 with a self-titled three-track 7-inch single on the independent label Otterbran Records. They achieved further recognition in August 1998 with the release of the four-track EP Schroeder’s Cat via Emperor Norton Records, a label owned by Peter Getty. The EP included the songs “Sleep”, “Doubledose”, and “(We Don’t Know How To) Say It”. During this period, the duo shared label space with Ladytron and the soundtracks to the Sofia Coppola films The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation. The band became inactive in 1998.
