Besses o’ th’ Barn Band, a brass band from Besses o' th' Barn area of Whitefield, Greater Manchester, was established by 1818. Initially known as Clegg's Reed Band, the ensemble became an all-brass band in 1853. One of the band's earliest recordings was "Henry VIII Morris Dance" (1904) by Edward German. The band's tours in the early 1900s, including world tours between 1906 and 1908, further solidified their reputation. Notable albums include National Brass Band Festival 1979 (1979), Around the World With the Besses (1991), and Hymns and Things (1993). Besses o’ th’ Barn Band also participated in major contests such as the British Open and National Championships.
