Franziska Schläpfer, known professionally as Big Zis, and born on May 1, 1976, in Winterthur, Switzerland, is a rapper. At age 16, she moved to Zurich and became involved in the squatting scene, where she discovered hip-hop. Big Zis' career began when she met the rappers from Gleiszwei in 1995. Big Zis released her debut EP, Quotäreglär, in 2001, followed by the albums Keini So in 2002 and Dörf Alles in 2005. Her music evolved from clear hip-hop with electro influences to more rock and punk elements. In 2009, her album Und jetz… was hät das mit mir z tue? (2009) received critical acclaim and won the Jury Award at the Swiss Music Awards in 2010.
