Antonio Pompa-Baldi, born December 1, 1974 in Foggia, Italy, is an Italian-American pianist. He began playing piano at age three and started formal lessons at four. By 14, he had won several competition awards in Italy. In 1993, Pompa-Baldi graduated from the Umberto Giordano Conservatory of Foggia. His breakthrough came in 1998 when he received third prize at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition. He won first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 1999 and a silver medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001. Pompa-Baldi has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Paris' Salle Pleyel, Milan's Sala Verdi, Shanghai's Grand Theatre, and Boston's Symphony Hall. He has recorded more than 30 CDs for various labels, including Centaur Records and the Steinway & Sons label. He currently serves as distinguished professor of piano and head of the piano department at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
