James Christopher Earl, born on April 5, 1957 in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American jazz bassist and musician. He began his musical journey at age 10 with classical guitar lessons and later picked up the electric bass guitar. In 1986, James Christopher Earl moved to New York City and joined the Jazz Explosion, working with notable artists such as Gato Barbieri and Stanley Clarke. His recording career started in Boston in 1986 when he supported David Gilden on Ancestral Voices. He released his debut album, Jimmy Earl, in 1995, followed by Stratosphere in 1997. In 2003, James Christopher Earl recorded with Robben Ford and became part of the house band for Jimmy Kimmel Live!. His work includes collaborations with Chick Corea, Pino Daniele, and many others.
