Harpdog Brown (born January 28, 1962 – January 7, 2022) was a Canadian Chicago blues singer-songwriter and harmonica player. Born in Edmonton and adopted into a musical family, he began performing in 1982. In 1989, he adopted the stage name Harpdog Brown, which he later made his legal name. Based in Vancouver, Brown’s recording career included Home Is Where the Harp Is (1994), which earned a Juno Award nomination. His 2011 album, Naturally, was voted Number 1 Canadian Blues Album of 2010 by The Blind Lemon Survey. He followed this with What It Is (2014), Travelin' with the Blues (2016), and For Love and Money (2019). Brown was a three-time recipient of the Maple Blues Award for Harmonica Player of the Year (2014–2016) and received a Lifetime Award from the Hamilton Blues Society in 2014. He died in Alberta at the age of 59.
