Michele Andrea Sherman, known professionally as Siya, was born on March 23, 1987, in Barstow, California. Raised by her grandmother in Brooklyn after her parents' struggles with drug abuse and incarceration, Siya began rapping at age seven and entered the music industry at twelve. Her early influences included Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. In 2011, Siya released her first singles "I'm Gone" and "Smoke Drink", along with the mixtape Elevator Dreams. She signed with Tank's R&B Money label imprint in 2012. Notable releases include the albums SIYAvsSIYA (2016), featuring collaborations with artists such as Ashley Rose, Jake&Papa, Lyric Wright and Kreesha Turner, and 383 – for Roosevelt (2017). Siya has collaborated with various artists including Chris Brown, Sage the Gemini, and Kirko Bangz. She starred in the Oxygen reality TV series Sisterhood of Hip Hop.
