Ellison, an indie rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, was formed in 2003. The group began as a recording project by local songwriter Josh Hill, who collaborated with high school friend Mitch Wyatt to produce a three-song demo. Following the addition of bassist JD Carlson and guitarist Ian Bolender, Ellison transitioned into a full band operation. Their first EP, Indecisive and Halfhearted, was released in 2005, and gained regional attention through live shows. In early 2006, Ellison signed with Carbon Copy Media, the label founded by J.T. Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights. Their debut full-length album, Say Goodnight, Sleep Alone, was released on August 22, 2006, distributed by Victory Records. In 2012, the band released their third album, Brighter than Sunlight.
