Jared & The Mill, an American indie rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, was formed in 2011 by Jared Kolesar (vocals, acoustic guitar), Michael Carter (banjo, electric guitar), Larry Gast III (electric guitar), Chuck Morriss III (bass), and Josh Morin (drums). They met through mutual friends while attending Arizona State University. The band's first full-length album, Western Expansion, was released in 2013. They continued with EPs such as Life We Chose (2015), Jared and the Mill on Audiotree Live (2016), and Orme Dugas (2016), the latter of which was supported by the Keep Me Going tour. Their final album, This Story Is No Longer Available, was released in 2018. On February 17, 2021, it was announced that Jared & The Mill had disbanded, with Kolesar pursuing a solo project under the name Wheelwright.
