Joanes Leyk Martinez, known professionally as Jan Leyk, was born on 9 October 1984 in Minden, Germany, and began his career as a DJ and actor. After completing his Fachabitur in 2004, Jan Leyk worked as an event gastronome before opening the Bar Hundert in Hamburg in 2010, where he also performed as a DJ. His first musical breakthrough came in 2013 with the single "Goethe" in collaboration with Aleksey, released through Kontor Records. In 2014, Jan Leyk released "Showdown" and "Elephant"; the former entered the German single charts at number 100 in July 2014. The same year he co‑released "Gladiators" with Madizin. Jan Leyk’s debut single, "Wir waren da", was issued on an EP on 25 September 2015 under Universal, following a contract signed that year. Subsequent singles, including "Ne Sekunde Sommer" with Lockvogel and "SOS" in 2017, further established his presence in the deep house and electronic scene. Throughout his career, Jan Leyk maintained an active touring schedule across Germany and abroad, and his releases consistently appeared in national charts, reflecting his sustained influence within the genre.
