Claus Fischer, born April 11, 1965, in Leverkusen, Germany, is a musician, music producer, and electric bass player known for his work in jazz and pop music. He taught himself guitar, bass, and drums before forming the Franck Band in 1988, which released seven albums. In the early 1990s, Fischer formed Drei vom Rhein, later joined by Pit Hupperten in 2002, recorded six albums, and toured extensively. Fischer gained prominence as a live bassist for TV total's heavytones from 2001 to 2004 and again from 2020, and as bandleader of the "Electric Ladyband" for Anke Late Night beginning May 2004. He has collaborated with numerous artists, including Stefan Raab, Chaka Khan, Larry Carlton, Ivan Lins, Randy Brecker, Lee Ritenour, Lionel Richie, Christopher Cross, Don Grusin, Charlie Mariano, and Dan McCafferty. Fischer's solo album Downland was released in November 2022 as the first part of a trilogy on Leopard Records.
