Rudolf Werthen is a Belgian violinist, conductor, and teacher who was born in Malines, Belgium, in 1946. He achieved professional recognition in 1971 after becoming a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition and is famous for founding and serving as the artistic director of the orchestra I Fiamminghi. Werthen served as the principal conductor of the symphonic orchestra of the Flemish Opera starting in 1989. His discography includes the recording The Violin Concerto I Fiamminghi (1982) and the premiere of the work Viatore (2001). He joined the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in 1975.
