Pieter Bourke, born in Melbourne, Australia, is a musician, composer, producer, and audio engineer. He began his musical journey at age 15, learning to play electronic drums and teaching himself percussion and keyboard skills. In 1987, he formed the electronic pop rock band Eden, releasing their debut EP The Light Between Worlds in 1989. Bourke's collaborations with David Thrussell began in 1993, leading to projects like Snog and the ambient duo Soma. In 1995, Bourke started working with Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance, contributing to her solo album The Mirror Pool and touring with the band. Their collaboration resulted in the world music album Duality, released on April 14, 1998. Bourke and Gerrard received two shared Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Score: in 2000 for The Insider (1999) and in 2002 for Ali (2001). Additionally, Bourke formed the dub reggae outfit Secret Masters with Brian Westbrook in 2001.
