Earle Warren, born Earle Ronald Warren on July 1, 1914, in Springfield, Ohio, was an American saxophonist. He began his musical journey playing piano, banjo, and ukulele before transitioning to the saxophone. In 1937, Warren joined Count Basie's orchestra, where he led the saxophone section and then became lead altoist and occasional vocalist until 1945. He also recorded "Circus in Rhythm" for Savoy Records in 1945, featuring notable musicians such as Harry "Sweets" Edison and Lester Young. After leaving Basie, Warren worked as a freelance musician and manager for artists like Johnny Otis and Eddie Heywood. He also served as the musical director of the Apollo Theater in New York and the Howard Theater in Washington. In 1973, he formed The Countsmen with Dicky Wells and Claude Hopkins. Warren passed away on June 4, 1995, in Springfield, Ohio.
