Maika Makovski, born on April 14, 1983, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, is a Spanish singer, composer, instrumentalist, and presenter who began writing songs at age twelve and performing live at fourteen. She released her debut album Kradiaw in 2004, which received critical acclaim. Between 2005 and 2007, Makovski toured with artists like Howe Gelb and The Dubliners. Her third album, Maika Makovski (2010), produced by John Parish, featured collaborations with Jim Barr and Billy Fuller. In 2011, she released Desaparecer, marking a departure from her earlier rock sound. This album was accompanied by a theatrical performance directed by Calixto Bieito. She won a Premio Max for best musical composition in 2014.
