HMGNC, an Indonesian electronic pop group originally named Homogenic, was formed in 2002 in Bandung, West Java. The band initially consisted of Risa Saraswati on vocals, Dina Dellyana on programming and synths, and Grahadea Kusuf on synths and programming. They released their debut album Epic Symphony in 2004 under FFWD Records, which featured the singles "Kekal" and "Unfolding Sympathy". In October 2009, Saraswati left HMGNC to pursue a solo career, leading to Amandia Syachridar taking over as lead vocalist. The band released Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom in 2010 under FFWD Records and signed with UNKL347 for their EP Let's Talk, which included the single "Get Up and Go", also featured on the compilation Radio Killed the TV Star. In 2015, HMGNC changed their name to remove vowels. The band headlined a tour in Japan in September 2018 and released the single "When Love Awaits" in 2019, followed by Lost in You in 2020.
