LONGMAN is a Japanese melodic punk band formed in 2012 in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, by vocalist‑guitarist Hiroya Hirai, bassist‑vocalist Sawa Yoriki, and drummer Yuki Horikawa. The trio emerged from a university music club and named themselves after a dictionary. Their first release, the EP Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish, appeared in February 2013 on Katachidake Records, followed by the debut studio album Neverland in July 2014 on Belde Records, which entered the Oricon charts at Number 193 for one week. After signing with VION, the band issued the EP tick in August 2015, earning a Regional Award at the CD Shop Awards that year, and followed with the studio album SO YOUNG in November 2016, which peaked at Number 33 on Oricon. In 2018 they released the EP WALKING and, after a brief hiatus due to health issues, signed with Sony Music Associated Records in March 2019. Their Sony debut single Wish On entered the Oricon singles chart at Number 38 and featured in the anime Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Subsequent releases include the studio albums Just a Boy (2020) and This is Youth (2021), with tracks such as "Replay" and "Hello Youth" used in the drama Laid‑Back Camp, and the single "spiral" (2023), which served as the opening for Mushoku Tensei’s second season.
