Rien, a French indie rock band originating from Grenoble, was formed on December 1, 1999 and consisted of guitarists Yugo Solo (Etienne Arras) and Dos.3 (Etienne Dos Santos), bassist Goulag (Laurent Buisson), and drummer {aka} (Olivier Gonsolin), with Francis Fruits joining later for keyboards and percussions. Their debut album, Requiem pour des baroqueux, released in 2003, garnered critical acclaim from various webzines and the magazine Les Inrockuptibles. The band's second album, Il ne peut y avoir de prédiction sans avenir, was released in 2007 and also received positive reviews. Rien participated in the CQFD contest by Les Inrockuptibles in May 2010, winning their weekly battle. Their subsequent releases, 3 (2010), 2 (2013), and 1 (2014), formed a trilogy marking the band's planned dissolution. The final EP was accompanied by farewell concerts in Lille, Paris, Lyon, and Grenoble.
