Frank Vaganée, born on March 19, 1966, in Malines, Belgium, is a saxophonist, flautist, composer, and arranger known for his contributions to jazz. He studied classical music at the conservatories of Mechelen and Antwerp before forming his own groups starting in 1983. Vaganée's career took off when he began working freelance with the Jazz Orchestra of the Belgian Radio and Television Network (BRTN) and joined the "Timeless Orchestra." In the early 1990s, he collaborated with Dutch pianist Mike del Ferro and released his debut album Picture a View in 1991. Vaganée has been a key member of several notable ensembles, including Philippe Aerts' trio and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, which he co-founded in 1993. He also formed a quartet with John Ruocco in 1998 and has been part of Nathalie Loriers' sextet since 1999. Vaganée received the Cera Prize for young musicians in 1993 and the Django d’Or (Belgium) in 2001.
