Eric Alexander Ineke is a Dutch jazz drummer born on April 1, 1947, in Haarlem. He began his career in the 1960s, receiving lessons from John Engels and performing with Henny Vonk and Ferdinand Povel. In 1969, Ineke recorded with Povel and subsequently worked with the Rein de Graaff Trio for over 40 years. He performed with musicians including Dexter Gordon, Hank Mobley, and Phil Woods at festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Montreal International Jazz Festival. In 2006, Ineke founded the quintet Eric Ineke JazzXpress. He released the book The Ultimate Sideman in 2012 and became a lecturer at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In 2017, he was appointed a Knight in the Orde van Oranje Nassau. His discography includes the albums Dexternity (2016), What Kinda Bird Is This? (2020), and Nordic Bop (2022).
