Friedrich Haider, born on November 7, 1961, is an Austrian conductor and pianist. He graduated from the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and the International Summer Academy Salzburg. Haider made his theater debut on July 26, 1984, conducting Wiener Blut by Johann Strauss in Klagenfurt. His concert debut followed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra that same year. He built a repertoire of over 60 titles across different genres and styles, notably Italian bel canto. Haider's career highlights include his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2002 with multiple seasons of repertoire performances, directing Roberto Devereux by Donizetti at the Bavarian State Opera in 2004, and conducting Rigoletto at New York’s Metropolitan Opera in 2006. He has worked with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, and Tokyo Philharmonic.
