French violinist Clara Bonaldi, born Paulette Bedin on May 9, 1937 in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, began studying violin at age six. Her talent led her to the Nancy Conservatory and later to the Paris Conservatory under René Benedetti. In 1963, Bonaldi won the Munich International Competition with pianist Sylvaine Billier for their performance of Béla Bartók's Second Sonata. This launched an international career marked by collaborations with orchestras led by conductors like Jean-Pierre Jacquillat and José Serebrier. She also performed at festivals and toured extensively, notably in Australia in 1980. Her discography includes Trio, Sonates Et Berçeuse and works by Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel, and Franz Schubert. Bonaldi passed away on November 24, 2006, in Paris.
