Olivia Block

Olivia Block, born around 1980 in the United States of America, is an American improvisational musician known for her work as a composer and pianist. She began her musical journey playing trumpet under Pauline Oliveros before transitioning to electroacoustic music by the late 1990s. Her debut release was the EP Pure Gaze in 1999. Block's discography includes collaborations with notable artists such as Kyle Bruckmann, Jeb Bishop, and Seth Nehil, and she has produced albums like Heave To (2006), Teem (2010), and Aberration of Light (2015). Block's work extends beyond recordings to include sound installations and compositions for performances and films. She has also written for orchestras, including the Chicago Composers' Orchestra.
