Kaori Uemura, born 上村かおり in Japan, is a violist specializing in Baroque repertoire. She began playing the violin at age three and transitioned to the viola da gamba at twelve under Toshinari Ohashi. Moving to Belgium, she studied with Wieland Kuijken at the Conservatoire de Bruxelles, collaborating regularly with Rainer Zipperling and Philippe Pierlot within the Ricercar Consort. Uemura has performed and recorded with ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Poème Harmonique, L'Armonia Sonora, and Spes Nostra. Her discography includes albums like Pièces De Clavecin En Concerts (1992), Music For Bass Viols (2005), and Kagami - Mirror (2023). Since 2021-2022, Uemura has been a professor of viola da gamba at the Conservatoire de Bruxelles.
