Paulette Merval, born Paulette Riffaud on November 3, 1920, in La Roche-Chalais, France, was an operetta singer. She began her musical education at the Bordeaux Conservatory, where she studied violin and singing, meeting her future husband Marcel Merkès. Their collaboration started after World War II with the 1947 production of Rêve de valse. The duo performed extensively, notably at Théâtre Mogador in Paris, and appeared frequently on television variety shows from the 1960s to the 1980s. Her notable albums include L'auberge du Cheval Blanc (1961) and Violettes Impériales (1970). Merval's final public appearance was in 1994 at Salle Pleyel. She passed away on June 20, 2009.
