Jukka Harri Tapio Eskola is a Finnish jazz trumpeter and composer born on 10 June 1978 in Espoo. He began playing the trumpet at age nine and studied at the Konservatorium of Kuopio before enrolling at the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatoire in 1998. He earned a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius-Akademie in 2001 and won the Nokia Young Talent scholarship that same year. Eskola is a founding member of The Five Corners Quintet and has performed with ensembles including Nuspirit Helsinki and the Espoo Big Band. He released his eponymous debut studio album, Jukka Eskola (2005), which achieved significant sales in Japan. In 2006, he received the Sony Jazz Award and was named “Musiker des Jahres” at the Pori Jazz festival in 2007. His recording career includes the studio albums Hub Up (2006), Walkover (2009), and Orquesta Bossa (2013). He followed these with the recordings Soul Trio (2017) and Steamy! (2019) and received the Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Federation in 2022.
