Shelley Ann Harland-Wright, born in Caterham, Surrey, is an English singer-songwriter and producer. Raised by creative parents, she discovered her musical talent during a stay in New York and composed her first songs using an acoustic guitar and a four-track sampler. Her breakthrough came when she signed with Chrysalis Publishing. Harland's debut album, Phoelar, released in 1999 under the project name Phoelar, showcased trip-hop sounds. She collaborated extensively with artists including Ferry Corsten, Junkie XL, Morgan Page, and Delerium. In 2003, she released her second album, Salt Box Lane, under the mononym Harland, followed by a third, Sinking Shade, in 2005. Her fourth album, Red Leaf, released in 2009 under her real name, marked a shift towards acoustic instruments. Notable singles from this period include "Wonder" and "In the Dark", which was featured in an Omega watch advertisement. She subsequently released the album The Girl Who Cried Wolf in 2014.
