Georg Nigl, born on May 2, 1972, in Vienna, Austria, is an Austrian baritone singer. He began his musical journey as a child, performing with the Wiener Sängerknaben. Nigl studied voice at the Vienna Music Academy and completed his training with Kammersängerin Hilde Zadek.
His professional engagements include performances at prestigious venues such as the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Staatsoper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, and Wiener Staatsoper. Nigl's career spans a wide range of roles and collaborations, working under notable conductors like Daniel Barenboim, Michael Boder, and Simon Rattle. He was recognized as the "Sänger des Jahres" by Opernwelt in 2015. His discography includes albums such as Vanitas - Beethoven, Schubert & Rihm (2020) and Echo: Schubert, Loewe, Schumann & Wolf (2023), both with pianist Olga Pashchenko. In 2025, he collaborated with Alexander Gergelyfi for Mozart's Clavichord, a collection of pieces played on the own composer's instrument.
