Luigi Piovano is a cellist and conductor. He began his musical journey as Principal Cellist of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. His career took off with notable recordings on both modern and Baroque cello, including works with Concerto Italiano under Rinaldo Alessandrini and chamber music by Robert Schumann with the Michelangelo Piano Quartet for the Chandos label. Piovano's discography includes Vivaldi's Le Quattro Stagioni (2011), Schubert's Arpeggione & Der Tod Und Das Mädchen (2014), and Mozart's Divertimenti & Eine kleine Nachtmusik (2020). He has also recorded the complete cello works of Camille Saint-Saëns and the Cello Suites of Johann Sebastian Bach. Piovano is a member of the piano trio Latitude 41, with whom he has recorded Franz Schubert's piano trios. Additionally, he serves as guest Principal Cellist for the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
