Curtis Kinnard Hairston, born on October 10, 1961, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was an American soul/funk singer-songwriter. After completing his education at the Juilliard School of Music in 1980, Hairston began his music career with the debut single "I Want You (All Tonight)" in 1983 under Pretty Pearl Records. In 1984, he covered Jimmy Cliff's "We All Are One", which became his first Billboard R&B chart hit. Hairston achieved his first major hit with "I Want Your Lovin' (Just a Little Bit)" in 1985, peaking at Number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and leading to an appearance on British music show Top of the Pops. In 1986, Hairston signed with Atlantic Records and released his first and only studio album, Curtis Kinnard Hairston, which included the track "Chillin Out" that reached Number 57 in the UK. His last solo single "The Morning After" was released in 1987. Hairston passed away on January 18, 1996, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital due to kidney failure related to diabetes. Posthumously, a greatest hits album entitled Celebrating Curtis Hairston was released in 2012 by Reverse Spin Music.
