Juan Reynoso Portillo, born June 24, 1912, in Ancón de Santo Domingo, Guerrero, Mexico, was a violinist known for his contributions to traditional music. At six, he began playing the violin after receiving it as a gift. His father, Felipe Betancourt, influenced him by playing in a local band. Reynoso formed a first group with friends and later participated in radio programs on XEW in Mexico City. He was nicknamed "El Paganini de la Tierra Caliente" due to his exceptional talent. In 1973, he promoted the folklore of Tierra Caliente across Guerrero. Reynoso received the Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes in 1997. Notable albums include Juan Reynoso: El Paganini de la Tierra Caliente (1993) and Música tradicional de la región de Tierra Caliente (2000). He died on January 17, 2007, in Riva Palacio, Michoacán.
