Nayobe Catalina Gomez, known professionally as Nayobe, was born on December 18, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York. She is an American singer of Afro-Cuban heritage who gained prominence in the electronic music scene. In early 1985, Nayobe became a pioneer in freestyle dance-pop music with her debut single "Please Don't Go", produced by Andy Panda, which was often cited as one of the first songs in the genre and marked the beginning of the Latin hip hop movement known as freestyle music. Nayobe's career saw several notable releases, including her self-titled debut album in 1986, which featured hits like "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait" and "Second Chance for Love". Other significant singles include "It's Too Late", which reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
