David Nadien, born on March 12, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, was an American violinist. He began his musical education with his father and later studied at the Mannes School of Music and Juilliard School under notable instructors including Adolf Busch and Ivan Galamian. At age 14, Nadien made his debut with the New York Philharmonic and won the Leventritt Award at 20. Nadien served as concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic from 1966 to 1970, appointed by Leonard Bernstein. He was known for his distinctive playing style and exceptional sight-reading skills. Throughout his career, Nadien recorded strings for numerous artists including Bette Midler, Billy Joel, and Tony Bennett. He also taught at the Mannes College of Music and privately. Notable albums include The Four Seasons (1961) and David Nadien Performs Suzuki Violin School: Volume 4 (1986). Nadien passed away on May 28, 2014, in Manhattan, New York.
