Helga Pilarczyk, born on March 12, 1925, in Schöningen, Germany, is a German operatic soprano. She initially studied piano at the conservatory of Brunswick and later at the University of Music in Hamburg, while also pursuing vocal training. Pilarczyk made her opera debut in 1951 at the Staatstheater Braunschweig as Irmentraut in Der Waffenschmied. From 1954 to 1967, she was a member of the Hamburg State Opera, performing leading roles such as Salomé and Turandot. Her repertoire included modern works like "Erwartung" and Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schoenberg. Pilarczyk's international performances spanned venues including Covent Garden in London, La Scala in Milan, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She retired from performing in 1967 to focus on her family but returned for select roles and teaching positions at the Hamburg Conservatory starting in 1975.
