An Australian musician and singer based in the United Kingdom, Penelope Trappes is known for her experimental ambient compositions. As a member of the duo Lismore, which she formed with Stephen Hindmann in 2005, they went on to form The Golden Filter and released seven albums under that name, before Penelope Trappes pursued a solo career. She recorded the trilogy Penelope One (2017), Penelope Two (2018), and Penelope Three (2021), characterized by dreamlike and introspective atmospheres. Two remix albums, Penelope Redeux (2019) and Mother’s Blood Edition (2021), are part of a discography that continues with Heavenly Spheres (2023), Hommelen (2024), and A Requiem (2025), which debuted at No. 39 on the UK digital download charts. Following the extended version of the EP Æternum, Penelope Trappes released the remix album OPVS NOVUM: A Requiem Reworked in 2026, featuring reinterpretations by Saint Etienne, Stephen Mallinder, and Julia Holter.
