Johanna Maria Vincent, known professionally as Jo Vincent, was born on March 6, 1898, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and was a Dutch concert singer and vocal teacher. She began her vocal training at the age of nine and earned her Solo-Gesangslehrerdiplom from the Royal Dutch Music Association in 1919. Her breakthrough came in 1920 with a solo performance in Haydn's "Die Schöpfung". She collaborated extensively with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, debuting as a Lied singer under Willem Mengelberg in 1924. She performed notable roles such as the Countess in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" and participated in significant events like the premiere of Benjamin Britten's Spring Symphony in July 1949. After retiring from her singing career in 1953, she continued to teach privately. Her notable albums include Mahler: Symphony No. 2 - Version (1982) and Mahler: Symphony No.4 In G (1989). She passed away on November 28, 1989, in Monte Carlo.
